Redefining Refugee
There are nearly 80 million forcibly displaced people around the world, the highest levels of displacement ever recorded. With these record-high numbers, it is more important than ever before to learn about refugees and get involved any way we can. Redefining Refugee is a podcast by Gators for Refugee Medical Relief (GRMR). GRMR is a non-profit organization at the University of Florida, led by students passionate about the refugee crisis and dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of refugees, locally and abroad. Join us as we speak with special guests to learn more about the refugee crisis, highlight the voices of refugees, and find out how we can help. No action is too small, and together we can make a difference. Learn more at www.grmruf.org

Hello GRMR,
Today I had the honor of speaking with Dr. Viktoriya Kashin. Dr. Kashin is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Nurse Practitioner at UF Health Shands Hospital who generously volunteers her time with organizations that host local and international medical aid trips. She shares her experience offering medical care to war torn areas of Ukraine and assisting Ukrainian refugees. This podcast also addresses the importance of having cultural humility and diverse friend groups, as well as the struggles that many refugees face. I hope her story and her work inspires you!
Thank you all for listening,
Reema
